ESPN is already having a big impact on college lacrosse, and it is going to get much, much bigger. 

BALTIMORE, Md.--There will be a 'new' Champion in Division 1 College Lacrosse in 2010.

To date, only 7 teams have won Division 1 National Lacrosse Championship: Syracuse, Virginia, Princeton, Hopkins, Carolina, Cornell, and Maryland.

Considering the upset of Maryland on Saturday and also how well Stony Brook played Virginia on Sunday, this column would normally start off about the games.

This week it starts off about the broadcast. Specifically, the extremely poor quality of the broadcast of the Maryland-Notre Dame game on Saturday.

There will be no ‘Threepeat’ by Syracuse Lacrosse in 2010. Army handed the Orange their first opening round loss in NCAA play in well over two decades yesterday.

Syracuse had won the last two Division One Lacrosse Championships and they were looking for their third. However, they failed to get by a hot Army team that trailed much of the way before rallying late in the game to force overtime.

Congratulations to the 16 teams that made the 2010 NCAA Division One College Lacrosse Playoffs--Virginia, Syracuse, Maryland, Carolina, Duke, Princeton, Cornell, Stony Brook, Denver, Loyola, Notre Dame, Hopkins, Delaware, Hofstra, Army and Mount Saint Marys.
