College Lacrosse Tournament Breakdown in College Beat 86
JamesLand - Sunday, May 04
The regular season is over. The 16 NCAA tournament teams have been selected. The games that really mean something are about to begin.
Before running through the first round playoff match-ups, I want to take a minute and write about something that did not jump out at me when the bracket was first announced, but I realized a few minutes after looking over the teams. It is what teams got in from which conferences.

This weekend told us one thing for sure--the NCAA Tournament will be interesting.
There were loads of upsets and from the way they went down, it looks like any tournament team could beat any other tournament team.

Colgate Downs Syracuse, 12-11
John_Dunn - Saturday, May 03
Hamilton, New York--Can Colgate finally get some respect?
Having beaten Bucknell twice, Navy, and #2 Syracuse in the last three weeks, Colgate is on the biggest roll of any team in the country right now. Call me crazy--and three or four weeks ago I would have sounded crazy writing this--but I think Colgate deserves a very high seed in the Tournament.

Colgate: Buy
Colgate has won games against ranked opponents three times in the past six days (Bucknell twice and Navy). Does that sound familiar? It happened in 2007.

I feel like we need a big advent calendar. You remember, the one your mom bought for you around Thanksgiving every year.
It had little doors on it and you started to open them on December 1st. Every day that went by in December, you opened a door and there was something good inside. A picture and a few words, something to help build your excitement for Christmas day.

The NLL Beat - April 23, 2008
Kevin_Fixler - Wednesday, April 23
Seriously – does anyone want to win the title?
Granted, it’s a league filled with parody, and some late blockbuster deals did change the dynamics of several teams quite a bit, but it seems that no one really can take and hold any form of dominance for more than a two or three week stretch.

Highly rated Bucknell lost to unranked Colgate this weekend 11-9.

Ohio State upset #8 North Carolina 14-11 this weekend. The Buckeyes improved to 8-3 on the year. All three of their losses came in overtime to ranked opponents (Navy, UMBC, and Bucknell).

They come in mid April every year--the rivalry games. Army-Navy, Hopkins-Maryland, and Duke-Virginia. Mid week, there was another one of these. It was the one for the battle for supremacy in upstate New York, Cornell-Syracuse.
Army and Navy have played 86 times in the history of their rivalry. Army got the upset win this time around. Hopkins and Maryland have played 105 times. Hopkins came up with a convincing 10-4 win this weekend.

Denver: Buy
I always thought Denver was over-rated, however the Pioneers engineered an improbable 9-8 win over Notre Dame this weekend in Illinois.
